Sixteen Nevada Middle School students qualified for State History Day competition, and four students were category finalists in the Virtual District History Day Contest coordinated online by Central College in Pella from March 17-31.
Students who qualified for the state contest are Caleb Biensen and Braeden Moore for their documentary “The Manhattan Project”; Miles Engstrom and Maddix Holland for their documentary “The Assassination of JFK”; Gavin Egeland and Carson Clem for their documentary “The O.J. Simpson Murder Trial”; Nicole Wittrig and Emilee Kelly for their exhibit “Title IX”; Thomas Sauer for his paper “The Long Debate Regarding American Foreign Policy;” Kole Beving, Cash Handsaker, and Drake Hinson for their website “The South Side Scandal”; Lauren Schmidt, Jillian Hawbaker, and Lily Quandt for their website “The Trail of Tears”; and Lillian Frideres for her website “Vietnamese Refugees in Iowa.”
In addition, Natalie Emery was a finalist in her exhibit group for her project “AAGPBL.” Sophia Martinez, Gracie Scheuerman, and Rylee Steffes were also named finalists in their exhibit group for their project “AAGPBL.”
