Nevada Middle School eighth-graders focused on “Debate and Diplomacy in History” as they presented their National History Day projects on January 28 at NMS.
The local fair included 45 exhibits, eight websites, five documentaries, two historical papers, and ten slide presentations.
Several entries qualified for the Virtual District History Day scheduled for March 17, coordinated by Central College in Pella. The following students are district qualifiers:
Individual Exhibits— Hailey Martin (Debates During the Spanish Flu); Emilia Stage (John Demjanjuk); Lillian Sadler (The Bread and Roses Strike); Natalie Emery (AAGPBL); and Jack Spence (Little Rock Nine)
Group Exhibits— Jillian Hawbaker, Lauren Schmidt, Lily Quandt, and Alyssa Vary (The Trail of Tears); Emilee Kelly and Nicole Wittrig (Title IX); Brooke Axmear and Aspen Hazlitt (Nellie Bly); Bourne Hanson, Jacob Hartz, and Connor Kunze (A Deeper Look at WW I); and Gracie Scheuerman, Sophia Martinez, and Rylee Steffes (AAGPBL)
